W1-1 Art Research Diary

Today, we went to the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture to study the material and ideas of artworks and learn from them. Some of the artworks gave me some inspiration.
This artwork is remarkable among other works in that room, which attracted most of us to spend a long time standing in front of it.
I found that it is made of wood, tapes, pigments and inks. It also has characters on the surface that seem to represent or remind us of the feeling of ancient Asia.
This three-dimensional collage documenting the Japanese style reminds me of Mondrian's color block flat composition of the Dutch style school.

Similarly, these are also very visually striking graphic compositions for me
Note:
When making composition work, you should not limit yourself to the limited parts but observe the harmony of the composition from a distance.
Those artworks evoked me to use composition in my work as visual experiments. Because I think that sometimes less is more. So I do not need to make artworks too similar to reality but use graphic design skills to convey emotion and information.
I think that it is okay for me to present my work in different media. Graphic design is not just limited to the form of posters or illustrations, so I could use new media like projections or a big computer to communicate with my audiences.
In my work, I would like to include more materials and techniques. For example, using heat or fire to create shapes on materials.
I think this is an excellent example of using fire to scald the material. It shows a kind of vintage charm of the map.
I have also collected some of the paint methods and materials that are probably good to be used in my work.
Water painting seems like a great choice.
